I love New Years Day!
The newness of the new year - the chance to make a change. I know I can do it all year long (every day, every hour, every minute) and I take full advantage of it but there's something about turning the page, changing the calendar on my fridge that just makes it FRESH.
This year I want to:
- Stay focused in my office. Even if that means taking Facebook out of my "most viewed sites" that gives me quick access. I'm a time waster and what I could be doing in 3 hours in the morning can take me all day.
- Stop biting my nails and (ugh) the skin around them. I know, it's gross, germy, etc. Oral fixation, self mutilation - call it what you want. It's my last bastion of lack of self-control.
- Finish what I start! That would include my work in progress of knitting items, the pile of my father's "stuff" in the basement now co-mingled with the 20 years of photographs that didn't make it into photo albums that I still feel some need to hang on to and the pictures sitting in IPhoto that need to be printed and make their way into photo albums. I personally love photo albums and will never just put them in a box by categories or years. Can't do it.
- Be a better wife - less critical, lose the need to "be right" with my opinion.
- Be a more of a "friend" and less of a "mother" to the 10 year old boy I mentor.
- Wake up each morning with gratitude - not thinking of what needs to be done but thinking about "what a great day this will be"
- Stay in touch with people I've left along the way. Hopefully they will feel the same.
If you've been here in the past - I hope you stay. If you're drifted in from somewhere - I hope you'll come back.
