Friday, Friday (Gotta get down on Friday)!

Whew! Better day today!

Son's car still at the mechanic's so he had to come back home so I could take the car to the doctor's. Then hubs had to come home and pick me up in the afternoon so I could pick up my friend Rocco's homework and deliver it to him. He's been sick all week with the flu and now Pink Eye (stay away from me!). The car is ready but we'll pick it up in the morning. And my son just texted me to say he's coming home to spend the night. Cool - my car will be here earlier than expected and I can get my grocery shopping done early!

Meatloaf got kicked the curb last night in favor of Thai food - vegetable drunken noodles that's all I ever eat. So I made the meatloaf tonight. It's good! With a little sauce of ketchup, brown sugar, dry mustard and nutmeg on top. With it I made Quinoa and Braised Brussels sprouts. They are so delicious. Everything came out great and I like cooking on Fridays because I feel more relaxed. Hubs met a friend for a drink before dinner and it was quiet - no one to torment (sweetly) me while I'm cooking. Sometimes I'm like "please just go watch tv will you?"

So for the last three days I have been trying to knit ONE mitten. One mitten that should take me one evening. But it's been a few years since I knit this pattern and I'm just having so much trouble! The first time I couldn't remember which numbers to follow because usually the number in ( ) is for the larger size. But in this pattern it means using the heavier yarn. The second time before I took it apart I was following the directions for the RIGHT hand instead of the LEFT hand. The thumb was in the right place but in these mittens there's an opening at the palm that you can take your fingers out (so cool right?!) and I followed the wrong directions so the opening was on the back of my hand. Arrgh!

That's what it's supposed to look like and here's a set I made for my niece. She wanted to fold them back so I put a loop and the buttons on the back. I'm using the same color because I had made a "spare" and figured I'd just make a "quick" second. Ha! But if I finally get back in the groove again I have a bunch of different colors because I made a few pairs for people - I can have all these random mittens and wear different colors together - with an equal number of rights and lefts of course.

This weekend there's a book sale at our library's book store. I don't think I can resist! There are some of the best books at these sales. Does your library have sales too?

Holy cow! Look at your made knitting skills! Seriously. That is a talent I do not have.

They look great!

I read this last week, but didn't comment, I love how your mind works like mine regarding the cooking. I need to try quinoa, maybe post a good recipe that you like next time? I love that mitten, you should mount it in one of those shadowbox frames, with a small ball of yarn draped around, and some wooden knitting needles... It would make you smile every time you passed it.
